Happy Birthday to Me!
My birthday this year was wonderful - the kids got really into planning for it and were so sweet.
Two of my favorite quotes from Sam this weekend:
"So - Mom - what do you want for your birthday? Some pretty flowers? ....How about some marshmallows?"
"Mom - can I have 2 pieces of paper? But I won't tell you what they are for!" (With a grin and a twinkle in his eye)
Here are my sweethearts with their card they picked out. The kids were SO excited about how big it opened up to be.
Sadie thought she should try on one of my presents for me.
Sadie and I blowing out the candles on my smiley-face cake. (Shortly after his birthday Sam asked what kind of cake I wanted for mine. To end the conversation, I must have said smiley-face, because last week he reminded me that we needed to make one for my birthday. Thank goodness I didn't commit myself to anything more difficult!)
Last night as we were making it he did comment, "Hey Mom, shouldn't Daddy be making this? It's your birthday." I let him know Daddy had already made my day by taking the two kids shopping for the afternoon, so I was more than happy to make my own cake.

A little more Lunar New Year
Here are a few pictures for our playgroup Lunar New Year lunch a couple weeks ago.
(I did have a couple special outfits someone passed down to us for Sam to wear, but I could not talk him into it.)

We did finally get a good picture of all three of them in their Valentine's clothes.
Of course, it took 3 adults and Matt's really fast camera.

Herding cats
Trying to get a picture of the 3 cousins, all looking happy and not silly, is something like.....herding cats.
Here are my attempts:
Ben's a little too mobile to want to sit still for a picture - he'd rather be crawling on the floor.
And then when his cousins try to hold on to him to keep him on the couch, he lets us know he is protesting this photo shoot.
One afternoon the kids made crowns for themselves and Ben and wanted me to take a picture of them all wearing them. Ben was again not so fond of Sam and Sadie trying to hold on to him, nor was he too excited about them wanting to put a crown on his head.
So then I tried to get a picture of the three of them while he was happily eating in his high chair, but that only brought out the silliness in my two.

'Intendo
Other than making Ben laugh, Sam's favorite thing to do last week was to play Nintendo (or as he calls it, 'intendo) with Matt. They got in a little Donkey Kong each night before bed.
Sadie kept watch - playing video games is so much easier when you have a little girl wriggling around on your shoulder.
Ben just might be playing soon, too!
