About a year and a half ago (sometime while we were is Tasmania) Sam started sleeping in his clothes.
He informed me one night while picking out pajamas that he just wanted to sleep in his clothes for the next day, "...so then I don't have to waste any time in the morning."
Since he only wears "soft pants" and t-shirts, I went ahead and let him. They are basically the same thing as pjs, and I couldn't argue with his logic of saving time in the morning.
(Not that a 4-year-old really had anywhere to be bright and early.)
And so - about 90% of the nights for the last 18 months - my son has slept in clothes.
But now he has taken this effeciency thing to a new level. The other night I was on the phone when I heard footsteps coming down the stairs. I was greeted by a grinning little boy informing me he had a surprise for me.
I followed him upstairs where he showed me he just-made bed.
The bed I had just tucked him into.....under the covers.
"I made my bed, Mom!"
"Did you forget you have to sleep in it?"
"I know. But now I won't have to make it in the morning. All I'll have to do it put my pillow up and arrange my animals. It will save me time!"
"Won't you get cold? Don't you want to sleep under your covers?"
"It's ok. I have pants on. I'll be fine."
Here he is a few hours later, fast asleep.
