A few things heard at our house the past few weeks.
Sam: I've got good cleaning skills. I just don't like to use them.
Sadie: Mom, you're a genius! (After the bath I suggested she take did indeed get all the glitter glue off her hands.)
Me: No, we don't put spoons down our pants.

The bag lady
Sadie's favorite activity is filling random bags/backpacks/buckets/containers with an assortment of items, carrying it around for a while, and then depositing it on the floor. I had just managed to sort out all the ones she had collected in the last month or so (in hopes of actually having pieces of toys and games altogether in the same place before the movers get here) and then I found this on the kitchen floor.
Because everyone needs a flashlight, cement truck, plastic fish, squirt gun, slinky, Samurizer, pretend princess beauty products, kazoo, swim goggles, sunglasses, cell phone holster, plastic cup and notebook in one easily accessible plastic bag, right?
That's some pretty good dog food
In addition to the regular rounds of being superheroes, the kids have been in a bit of a pet phase lately.
And we like to be as realistic as possible around here.
Though I don't think Gus should start expecting fruit-flavored food anytime soon.
Best Buds
The other morning the kids were *unusually* nice to each other - I was overcome with amazement and just had to take some pictures so I could show them what it looked like to get along the next time they started being a bit on the un-nice side of life. They sat by each other for breakfast, even sharing a bowl of rice.
New Year's Lunch
We celebrated the Lunar New Year with our adoption playgroup friends last weekend. Sam was sick, so just Sadie and I went.
Her favorite thing was the fan in the goody bag.
Secret Treasure
Sadie got flowers on her birthday from Grandmommie and Grandaddy - she saw them by the front door when we got home from school and declared them her "secret treasure" that was waiting for her.
There was also a balloon, which she proceeded to treat as her new best friend, toting it around the house with her, talking to it, and even putting it in time out. (I'm not exactly sure what it did wrong.)
