Folding hands....and other thoughts from Sam

J: Fold your hands when we are praying.

S: Why?

J: Because it helps us keep our hands still so we think about what we are saying.

S: Why do we need to think about what we are saying?

J: Because we are talking to God.

S: Why are we talking to God?

J: Because He loves us.

S: Why does He love us?

J: Because he made us.

S: Why did he make us?

J: Because he wanted to.

S: And we saw Him for a day right after he built us?

J: Ummm.....I'm not exactly sure how that works. But he didn't exactly build us.....he put us in a tummy.

S: He just put us in a tummy?

J: Ummm....kind of....he helps us grow in a tummy and then we are born.

S: And we just got in the tummy?

J: Yeah....in a special way.

S: Like magic? But not really magic?

J: Yep - not quite magic. Just God.

S: Yeah - just God's power.

How the photo shoot ended

We tried to get some Christmas-y pictures of the kids.

This is how it ended.


Notice the 2 smiley-face stickers under Sadie's tights.

That's how I bribed her to get her into the dress, with a bow in her hair.

Make you own amusement park

This is what you do when you are at your great-aunt and uncle's house and have exhausted everything your mother has brought with you to entertain yourselves.

Ride the chairlift up and down the stairs (and give your stuffed animals rides, too.)



And then try an alternate route down the stairs.



And then repeat about 27 times just because you can.

Can I please be a baby again?

It was all we could do to keep Sadie from jumping in with her cousin.

They've been waiting 11 months for this!

The first snow of the year!

Ever since we skipped out on winter last January (much to our delight - and our children's dismay - is was summer when we arrived in Tasmania), the kids have been wanting to know when it is going to snow again.

And on Thanksgiving, they got their wish. (For a brief moment, at least.)

They were, however, a bit disappointed when they realized there wasn't going to be enough to actually play in.
