Grandmommie's Birthday Weekend

So - other than the trip the ER on Sunday night - we had a great 4th of July weekend with (most of) Joe's family celebrating his mom's birthday. We missed Amanda and Hillary (in Hawaii and Spain, so I guess we will excuse their absence... :) but were excited to have Joe's parents, his brothers and aunt in Chicago for the weekend.

We - don't ask me how - managed to get a picture of all 4 cousins smiling and looking at the camera!

Lily got eat her first ice cream cone.

The kids had lots of fun on the swingset.

We went to the zoo.

We took a group snowcone break (or two), as we happened to choose a really, really, really hot day to wander around outside looking at animals.

The dads were in charge of the girls while out to supper Saturday night, which explains the placement of the stickers used to entertain them while waiting for the food.

The kids had to fight it out with Uncle Johnny and Amy for the candy from the pinata.

Since Sam missed cake the night before, Grandmommie was kind enough to don the birthday crown and light the candles for breakfast the next morning.
