The Nut

On Saturday, we headed about an hour west to the town of Stanley to go to the top of The Nut, a sheer-sided cliff that is all that remains of a volcanic plug. It is 143 meters tall and is flat on top, where you can hike around and check out the beautiful views of the ocean and the town below. To get to the top, you can either hike up a steep trail or ride a chair lift.

Given our children's love for hiking at Cradle Mountain, we chose the chair lift. (And I tried not to think about the fact that it was one little bar separating us from falling to the ground below. Thankfully, my usually squirmy daughter actually sat still for the few minutes we were riding up.)

We made it to the top and set off down the path to start taking pictures of the amazing views.

And then we discovered that the memory card for the camera was still at home.

So - this is our photographic evidence we made it to The Nut.
