Needing some divine intervention

Sam has started saying "special prayers" lately, in addition to our usual mealtime and bedtime prayers.

The other night he told me he was scared, so we prayed that God would help him not be scared at night.

The next night after telling me he was "a bit cold," he asked God to help keep him warm.

One morning after waking up he spontaneously said, "Dear Jesus, please help Daddy have a good day at work."

My favorite prayer, however, is the one from this morning. Sadie had already been up for about 15 minutes when we heard Sam stirring in his room. I went in to check on him, leaving Sadie out playing in the living room. Sam was still pretty sleepy, and seemed to be contemplating whether he really wanted to get up or just go back to sleep.

And then his sister came bounding into his room, greeting him with a "GOOD MORNING, SAMMY!" as she jumped up on his bed.

He opened one eye, raised his eyebrow, looked at her and said, "Good night" as he put his head back down on his pillow.

Not wanting to leave his room without him, she kept up the bouncing while repeating "Good morning!" (Though this time she was a bit quieter about it.)

He rolled back over and muttered under his breath, "Dear God, please help me wake up."
